Artist Gabriel Dawe's indoor rainbows are a visual representation of the full spectrum of natural light. The artwork is made of ordinary embroidery thread that has been hooked from floor to ceiling in a repeating overlay. Crafting an ethereal and shimmery pattern that, like a mirage, creates an optical illusion that delights the senses but distorts perceptions. Dawe’s "Plexus" series question constructed notions of masculinity and femininity, art and craft, strength and fragility. The ongoing theme behind the sculptures aims to explore man’s connection to the greater whole of nature. “When you see a rainbow in nature you get a glimpse of the order that exists behind nature." - Gabriel Dawe Plexus No. 30 was exhibited at The Newark Museum of Art in 2015.
